Girls Trip Getaway, Unwinding and Reconnecting

Navigating the rewarding yet demanding journey of motherhood with two little ones under the age of 3, I treasure the moments I get to spend with my girlfriends. These getaways are not just breaks from daily life; they are essential breaths of fresh air. Here, I share my experiences from some memorable trips and dream about future escapades, hoping to inspire other moms to take their well-deserved breaks.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico – The Esperanza Resort

Our escape to Cabo San Lucas was a revitalizing experience at The Esperanza Resort, a sanctuary where the desert meets the sea. The resort’s architecture, with its open spaces and infinity pools overlooking the cobalt blue ocean, provided the perfect setting for relaxation. I was pregnant at the time and this getaway was perfect to just indulge in the cuisine and relax in the sun. We dined at Acre, an ethereal spot hidden among towering palm trees. The ambiance was lively, and the food, a mix of contemporary and traditional Mexican cuisine, was beyond delicious. Brunch at Flora Farms was another culinary highlight; the charming farm-to-table restaurant served the freshest ingredients right from their gardens, which we toured post-meal. Our days were spent lounging by the pool or spa, where the stress melted away with each sunset, making it the ultimate girls’ retreat.

Miami Beach, USA – The 1 Hotel South Beach

Miami Beach was an energetic contrast to our serene Cabo retreat. The eco-conscious 1 Hotel South Beach offered a luxurious yet sustainable stay right on the coast. One of the trip’s highlights was renting a yacht and sailing along the Miami shoreline. The freedom of the open water, the skyline views, and the laughter of close friends was invigorating. Dining at Mother Wolf brought a taste of Rome to our table, with exquisite dishes that filled the room with aromas of fresh pasta and rustic pizzas. We also made sure to grab breakfast at Pura Vida, where the vibrant, health-focused dishes prepared us for days filled with adventure. Our last day was spent unwinding on the sandy beaches, letting the rhythmic sounds of the waves cap off our dynamic trip.

Scottsdale, USA – The Andaz Scottsdale

Scottsdale presented a blend of art, culture, and desert relaxation. The Andaz Scottsdale, with its chic, mid-century modern design and expansive views of the Sonoran Desert, was a refreshing change of scenery. The resort’s Weft & Warp Art Bar + Kitchen not only offered innovative Arizona cuisine but also hosted art workshops, where we tried our hands at pottery—a laugh-filled learning experience. One day was dedicated to exploring Old Town Scottsdale, where we immersed ourselves in its charming boutiques, art galleries, and local eateries, each offering a glimpse into the vibrant local culture. Our bungalow was a peaceful retreat after days spent exploring and nights out enjoying the local dining scene, which boasted everything from upscale eateries to cozy, southwestern cafes. The stark beauty of the desert, enriched by its artistic community, made this trip uniquely restorative.

Paris, France – The Kimpton St. Honoré Paris

Paris, the timeless city of lights, romance, and art, welcomed us with open arms. The newly opened Kimpton St. Honoré, converted from a historical 1917 building, offered Parisian chic with a touch of modern luxury. Our cultural cravings were satisfied at the Louvre and Musée d’Orsay, where art from across centuries and borders filled us with awe. Dining was a delight at Derrière, a quirky restaurant with an eclectic mix of décor and a backyard that felt like a hidden gem in the city. One enchanting evening was spent sitting by the Seine, sharing stories and sipping wine as we watched the Eiffel Tower illuminate the night sky, a magical moment that epitomized the romantic spirit of Paris. Each evening, as we watched the city lights, the city seemed to wrap us in its magical embrace, making every moment memorable.

Tulum, Mexico – The Beach Tulum

In Tulum, we stayed at The Beach Tulum, a gorgeous beachfront hotel that offered the perfect blend of comfort and rustic charm. Although getting there required a flight into Cancun and a drive to Tulum, the destination’s laid-back beach vibes made it all worthwhile. We embarked on an unforgettable scuba diving adventure in the cenotes, exploring underwater caves that were both mystical and majestic. We also visited the ancient Mayan ruins, a cultural treasure that provided a profound sense of connection to history and nature. The trip was also marked by a unique mud spa experience, which left us feeling renewed and deeply connected to the earth.

The Hamptons, New York

For our trip to The Hamptons, we rented a cozy house, which served as the perfect home base for our quintessential summer escape. We rode bikes along scenic trails, relished the sun at the famous beaches, and explored the charming small towns dotted throughout the area. A memorable dining experience was at the Lunch Lobster Roll, known for its iconic seafood and laid-back ambiance. Our visit also included a day at a local winery, where we enjoyed live music and explored a market on site, sampling local products and soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. Our days were filled with shopping in quaint boutiques, beach lounging, and enjoying the local cuisine, capturing the essence of a relaxed yet sophisticated summer getaway.

Future Girls’ Trip Destinations on My List

Napa Valley, USA

Having visited Napa Valley with my husband, I long to return for a girls’ trip. I envision us lounging at Auberge du Soleil, indulging in world-class wines and Michelin-starred dining amidst the rolling hills. The relaxing spa treatments and picturesque vineyard walks promise a rejuvenating experience away from the bustles of motherhood.

Corfu, Greece

Although I’ve explored Greece with my sister, I haven’t yet ventured to Corfu. This island promises lush scenery and stunning beaches for an idyllic European escape. I’m eager for a stay at the Domes Miramare, where luxurious beachfront relaxation meets rich history and vibrant local life.

Antigua

Antigua, a place I’ve enjoyed with my family, is perfect for a future girls’ trip. The serene beaches and Caribbean charm of Hermitage Bay promise secluded beaches and all-inclusive luxury, ideal for a peaceful retreat to recharge and reconnect.

These trips, planned and reminisced, are more than just vacations. They are vital for reconnecting with friends, rejuvenating the spirit, and returning to family life refreshed and inspired. Each destination, with its unique charm and adventures, holds the promise of new memories and lasting bonds.
